Sacred Solitude Retreat

A weekend retreat (to deeply be) with the Earth & and the wisdom of life

Yachats, Oregon — Temenos Forest Sanctuary

July 26-28, 2024

Trust this Body, Trust this Earth

This is a simple retreat and a sacred ceremony. This is a space of slowing down, deep listening, stillness, and being present to attune to the earth and yourself.
It is an opportunity to commune with the wisdom of the land and receive what your heart longs for (knowingly or not). It is a modern rite of passage practice that is held by community. It is place of reclaiming our inherent connection and belonging to ourselves and our earth home.

The invitation of this retreat is to go out on a medicine walk from sunrise to sunset on a solo experience on the land. The solo experience is supported by time in community, both before and after the time on the land. We start with sharing our intentions on day 1, spending day 2 with the land, and close on day 3 by sharing stories from our time on the land. Sharing our stories helps to incorporate the wisdom or learning received from the medicine walk into our day-to-day lives. This is a practice that has been done for thousands of years as a way to connect with ourselves, our earth home, and the wisdom of life.

You are invited and highly encouraged to fast on your medicine walk. To support the ceremony, you will be fasting from the company of other humans, from the comforts of being inside, from technology, and perhaps food. This simplification lends itself to an openness in the experience so that your intuitive and embodied knowing can guide the experience.

This unique opportunity offers the space to easefully lean into the quiet and solitude that many of us long for. There are not many spaces that are available or feel safe to camp, wander, and spend a full day alone while also being held by a container of care. Staff will be nearby if you need anything at all.

Is there anything I can do to prepare?

Spend time before the retreat deciding on your intention for the medicine walk. This could be very broad or specific. A medicine walk lends itself to supporting transition, desired shifts, challenging times, bigger questions, new beginnings, letting go of old habits/ patterns or experiences that no longer serve and feeling into things like connection, trust, fear, and love.It is a space for whatever your life is presenting and needs tending.

For your solo time on the land, you will need a backpack with warm layers, rain/ wind layers, (2) full water bottles, headlamp, watch and a small emergency snack. You may choose to include something to sit on, a journal, basic first aid stuff, and items for ceremony.

  • This retreat will take place at Temenos Forest Sanctuary, a 5 acre forested property located 2 miles north of the coastal town of Yachats, Oregon. It is very secluded and private and we will be the only group on site. You are invited to camp in the forest, let the sound of the ocean lull you to sleep, and connect deeply with the trees and beings of this land. The trails and surrounding terrain are a bit uneven. Please reach out if you are concerned about accessibility.

There are trails on the property, tables and chairs to sit and relax, and a hang out/ eating area with a fire pit. The ocean is a 15 minute walk away, mostly through the forest. This space offers itself for deep nourishment and stability. You will likely go home having the land and its inhabitants wedged deeply into your heart.

  • We will be camping at Temenos Forest Sanctuary, a private, beautiful, and sacred 5-acre forested property that is located just north of Yachats. The campsites are gently and thoughtfully placed in the forest setting and offer an intimate experience with the land. It is truly a spectacular place to camp and call home for a few days.

We will be the only group on site and set up our tents among the trees and share time together in our outdoor kitchen and around the fire pit. We will be using an outhouse during our time on the property. Access to showers available.

  • START:
July 12: Arrive & begin settling in, 12-1 PM

    END:
July 14: Close the space & depart, 1 PM

*All those that identify with their feminine are welcome.

strength & stability:

We believe in the need for restorative time (amidst the incomprehensible suffering of our world, racial injustice, climate crisis) to show up with strength and stability for individual and collective well being.

Facilitator:
Irene Elle Bailey

Inclusivity:

We ask that our participants be committed to the ongoing learning and awareness of how white supremacy negatively impacts all life, especially black and brown people. In an effort to support an inclusive space, we know this work, this dismantling of systemic oppression, is essential to sharing healing spaces and to supporting the collective liberation for all beings.

To be nature is to be moving in cycles.
This is how I remember I am also nature.
To be wild is to always be in flux.
