Knowing Sacred Presence Retreat

A Joyful Weekend of Forest Wisdom & Awakened Creativity

Yachats, Oregon — Temenos Forest Sanctuary

June 27-30, 2024

Embark on a transformative journey
into the heart of your own knowing
& the magic of the forest.

This playful and intentional retreat invites you to awaken your senses, tap into your creative center, and connect with the sacred presence within you and the natural world. We will explore the practice of sacred presence that supports us to meet life’s uncertainties and each moment with curiosity and an open heart. Time with the forest and sea will open us to consider the questions:
How do we practice sacred presence? How do we nurture deeper spiritual connection?
How do we honor our own wisdom and creativity?

Together we will learn to cultivate more connection to our inner wisdom and to the wisdom of the more-than-human world. Through curious exploration and invitations to meet our creative selves, this week-end is a unique opportunity to pause and to deepen our understanding of what it means to be human in these times. We are not trying to push away the discomfort of life, but to examine how we can hold it all while remaining connected to restorative states. To explore sacred presence is to explore what it means to be human, even in times of personal and collective distress. It takes courage to remember our joy and creativity and to engage in practices that help us to live fully.

Find renewal & inspiration.

Allow yourself to be nourished by joy and delight through deep time in the forest, delicious food, sunsets, ceremony, connection with the land, community, and the wisdom of the trees. The forest, creeks, and nearby ocean provide space to reconnect to the beauty, joy, and abundance that is always available.

  • This retreat will take place at Temenos Forest Sanctuary, a 5 acre forested property located 2 miles north of the coastal town of Yachats, Oregon. It is very secluded and private and we will be the only group on site. You are invited to camp in the forest (or stay nearby), let the sound of the ocean lull you to sleep, and connect deeply with the trees and beings of this land.

There are trails on the property, tables and chairs to sit and relax, and a hang out/ eating area with a fire pit. The ocean is a 15 minute walk away, mostly through the forest. This space offers itself for deep nourishment and stability. You will likely go home having the land and its inhabitants wedged deeply into your heart.

  • We will be camping at Temenos Forest Sanctuary, a private, beautiful, and sacred 5-acre forested property that is located just north of Yachats. The campsites are gently and thoughtfully placed in the forest setting and offer an intimate experience with the land. It is truly a spectacular place to camp and call home for a few days.

We will be the only group on site and set up our tents among the trees and share time together in our outdoor kitchen and around the fire pit. We will be using an outhouse during our time on the property. Access to showers available.

    * You have the option to stay nearby in a hotel/ Airbnb at additional cost. This must be arranged individually but please reach out for suggestions.

  • START:

  • We will be the only group on site. We will follow strict hygiene protocols. The large size of the property offers ample space for safely camping, exploring, and building community. Prior to the retreat, we will share our COVID Protocols that all participants must agree to follow.

No experience necessary. Open to 14 participants. Offered rain or shine.

strength & stability:

We believe in the need for restorative time (amidst the incomprehensible suffering of our world, racial injustice, climate crisis) to show up with strength and stability for individual and collective well being.

Facilitators:

Heather Burns
Irene Elle Bailey
Millie Zimdars (artist in residence)

Inclusivity:

We ask that our participants be committed to the ongoing learning and awareness of how white supremacy negatively impacts all life, especially black and brown people. In an effort to support an inclusive space, we know this work, this dismantling of systemic oppression, is essential to sharing healing spaces and to supporting the collective liberation for all beings.

This retreat was a beautiful time of connection to self, others and the earth so needed in these times of distraction and anxiety. I left feeling grounded, connected, refreshed, and with my heart more open.
